The Museums of Quebec

The Museums of Quebec section is the second phase of the Société des musées du Québec site redesign. This section position itself as a new Web reference for the museum offer in Québec. You can find on the site a custom search engine (the Museum guide), featured articles, a list of digital experiences and a focus on collection objects. We are very proud of the search engine for museums. It is based on the Apache Solr technology and allows to make proximity, interests or regional searches. Search can also be done on the museum name with autocompletion. Two facets allow to get museums with a Kéroul accessibility classification or those that are family-friendly. The Web site is responsive as are most of the sites we build today. In particular, the search functionnality has been designed to be used with ease either on a desktop, a tablet or a mobile device

This bilingual site was built with eZ Publish. The biggest challenge was to plan and deploy this new section integrated to the CMS instance without breaking existing pieces and to reuse various resources and components.You can consult a blog post written by Mugo Web that explains some of the technical challenges of such a big Web project.
